Erik Eisenberg for Constable, New Canaan 2007

Erik Eisenberg grew up in New Canaan, attending local public schools and participating in various community activities:

  • Boy Scout
  • Waveny Care Center volunteer
  • Election poll watcher
  • New Canaan Library volunteer and employee
His interest in social and environmental issues was expanded by attending Tufts University in Medford, Mass., including a year abroad in Tübingen, Germany. In order to better understand the similarities and differences between German and American culture, he moved to Hannover, Germany in the Summer of 2004. As a Constable for New Canaan, Erik hopes to serve the local community as an international liaison, sharing transportation and environmental ideas between the two countries.

The USA and Germany could learn a lot from each other. For example, Germany could study the US system of public libraries, and how in America people from different backgrounds can live together peacefully. On the other hand, the USA could examine some of Germany's many environmental and safety innovations, such as sidewalk- level bike paths.
