Housing and Transportation
- Create safe affordable housing. The goal is to make Stamford affordable to workers and our children so they can remain and work in this area.
- Develop a detailed 10 year master plan to prevent more suburban sprawl. To serve peoples transportation needs in a smaller area with fast, safe, non polluting public transportation.
- Reduce asthma and other health issues with incentives for hybrid cars and alternative transportation.
- Make downtown more pedestrian and bicycle and friendly by connecting green spaces and parks.
- Increase accessibility to Metro North with localized jitney pick up service direct to downtown and trains. Protected bicycle parking and bicycle on board trains, to use when one gets off the train.
Energy
- Use the new economic incentives from CT Clean Energy Fund to aggressively develop Solar electric power in Stamford. This will reduce energy transmission jams and the need for more power plants.
- Publicize how right now we can buy 100% of our homes electricity from clean energy sources. For every 100 homes that do, we win a solar electric system for a city school. Visit Connecticut Clean Energy Fund for more info.
Job Creation and Economic Growth
- Tax incentives only to attract new businesses that hire locally that we wouldn't get any other way.
- Promote our great local talent on a city commerce web site and to developing companies to attract new clean energy industries to build our economy and jobs with this new economic engine.
Education and Schools
- Improve head start and pre school programs to build up our student’s preparedness to learn when they enter the 1st grade.
- A strong focus on voluntary after school programs to increase contact hours with parents and teachers to increase scholastic and reasoning skills.
